The Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway

The Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway enjoys the surrounding of the Leven Valley in the Lake District National Park. The railway has been run as a family-friendly attraction since 1970 and is a must for any group visiting the national park!

The railway’s timetable runs on a daily basis between the months of April and October. A typical journey with Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway begins at Haverthwaite and takes you on a scenic trip to Lakeside via Newby Bridge.

During summer, you even have the option to board a Windermere Lake Cruise from Lakeside, too! The cruise will take you over to Bowness-on-Windermere, where you can enjoy an afternoon of fun.

A wonderful dining experience can also be had here, as Haverthwaite Station houses a tearoom. The dog-friendly venue serves up delicious breakfast, brunch and lunch dishes for you to tuck into.

Alternatively, if you book in advance, you can enjoy a delicious afternoon tea. What a perfect start or finish to your trip!

The little ones can enjoy extra entertainment, thanks to Haverthwaite Station’s woodland playground and picnic area. If you’re visiting with history buffs, why not tour the nearby engine shed and view an array of historic locomotives?

A complete day out packed with nostalgia and fun is waiting to be had at this attraction…
